Daily cleaning do's

  • Clean with mild dish soap and warm water, or a stone-safe cleaner
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge — nothing abrasive
  • Wipe up spills promptly, especially oils, wine, coffee, and juice
  • Dry the surface after cleaning to prevent water spots

Never use

  • Vinegar, citrus, or acidic cleaners on natural stone — they etch the surface
  • Abrasive pads or powders that can dull the finish
  • Bleach or ammonia-based cleaners on stone
  • Cutting directly on the surface — always use a cutting board
  • Placing very hot pans directly on quartz — use a trivet

Sealing

  • Natural stone (granite, marble, quartzite, travertine, limestone) may need periodic sealing
  • Engineered quartz and soapstone do not need sealing — quartz is non-porous by design and soapstone is naturally non-porous
  • Sealing frequency varies by stone and use — your fabricator will advise on the right schedule

If you see a chip, crack, or stain

  • Take a photo of the area right away
  • Note when it happened and anything that may have caused it
  • Contact your fabricator — don't attempt adhesive repairs on hairline cracks yourself
